FORT PIERCE, Fla. - The No. 15 nationally ranked Southern Connecticut State University baseball team defeated Mercy College today, 13-2 and 4-0 in a doubleheader.

In game one, Steve Simon (Middlefield, Conn.) got the win going six innings, giving up two runs on six hits and striking out six. Sean Leary (Maybrook, N.Y) relieved Simon and threw two inninngs of one-hit ball. Will Meade (Orange, Conn.) threw the final inning and didnt allow a hit.  Offensively, the Owls were led by Ryan Geffert (Plymouth, Pa.) and Bryan Dorsey (Cheshire, Conn.). Geffert went 2-for-4 with a run and three RBI, Dorsey followed up going 3-for-6 with two runs and three RBI.

In game two, Chris Zbin (Colchester, Conn.) got the win throwing a complete game,  no runs, on seven hits and fanning six. Kyle Cummings (Hamden, Conn.) led the offense going 2-for-4 with a stolen base. Michael Cleary (West Boylston, Mass) added to the offense going 2-for-3 with two runs scored. 

The Owls will be back in action tomorrow when they travel to Boca Raton to take on Bloomfield College. The game is scheduled to start at 5 p.m.
