BOCA RATON, Fla. – The No. 15 nationally ranked Southern Connecticut State University baseball team takes two games from C.W. Post on Monday. The Owls took game one 3-1 and game two 4-3 in a pair of seven inning games.
Kevin Pettine (Somerset, Mass.) started game one, going eight innings and giving up one run, on three hits while striking out nine.
Sean Leahy (Maybrook, N.Y) started game two and went four and one third innings, giving up seven hits and three runs. Both pitchers picked up their second wins of the season.
Michael Johnston (Thomaston, Conn.) recorded the save in game one, going the final inning, and gave up no runs or hits. The offense was powered by #T.J. Shea# (Hamden, Conn.) and
Kyle Rosadino (Berwyn, Pa.) who both went 2-for-3. #A.J. Rouleau# (Westborough, Mass.) and Sam Greenburg (Guilford, Conn.) helped out the offense by both going 2-for-4 on the day. Rouleau collected the lone two RBI in the game.
In game two,
Steve Simon (Middlefield, Conn.) picked up his first save of the year going the final inning and giving up no runs on two hits.
Will Meade (Orange, Conn.) was able to hand the ball off to Simon after he relieved Leahy in the fifth inning. Meade threw a scoreless inning and two thirds. The offense for the Owls was led once against by Roleau who went 2-for-3 with one RBI and #T.K. Kiernan# (Wallingford, Conn.) helped out, also going 2-for-3 with a RBI.
The Owls will play their final game tomorrow in Boca Raton, Fla. when they face Nyack College at 10 a.m.
