NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The No. 5 nationally ranked Southern Connecticut State University baseball squad was able to put up 16 hits to defeat AIC today, 12-2. The starting pitcher for today's game was
Steve Landell (Higganum, Conn.) who received the victory, going six innings and allowing one run on one hit and striking out 11.
Will Meade (Orange, Conn.) replaced Landell in the seventh and went the final three innings. Meade gave up one run on four hits and fanned four.
First basemen
Ryan Geffert (Plymouth, Pa.) and outfielder
Kyle Rosadino (Berwyn, Pa.) powered the Owls, combining for seven of the 16 hits in the game. Geffert went 4-for-4 with four RBI, and Rosadino went 3-for-3 with three RBI. Eight of the nine starters had at least one hit in the game. #A.J. Rouleau# (Westborough, Mass.) and
Michael Cleary (West Boylston, Mass) each collected two hits on the day. Shortstop
Kyle Cummings (Hamden, Conn.) finished the day 1-for-2 with a triple.
The Owls improve to 19-0 on the season and 4-0 in Northeast-10 Conference action.
The Owls will return to action tomorrow when they travel to the College of Saint Rose. The game is scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m.
