No. 13 Nationally Ranked Baseball Shuts Out Caldwell 6-0

Steve Simon threw a complete-game giving up only two hits and striking out 12 batters.

NEW HAVEN Conn. – The No. 13 nationally ranked Southern Connecticut State University baseball team defeated Caldwell College today, 6-0. The Owls got out a quick start in the first inning with a two-run double from Kyle Rosadino (Berwyn, Pa.). Southern tacked two more on in the third with a homerun by Ryan Geffert (Plymouth, Pa.) down the right field line. The Owls put up two more runs in the seventh with two-out singles by T.K. Kiernan (Wallingford, Conn.) and Sam Greenberg (Guilford, Conn.).

Steve Simon (Middlefield, Conn.) started for the Owls giving up no runs, on two hits and striking out 12 through nine innings of work. Kyle Cummings (Hamden, Conn.), Rosadino, and Kiernan combined for six out of the team's 11 hits. Rosadino and Geffert both collected two RBI a piece.

The Owls next game will be tomorrow when they host Southern New Hampshire for a double-header at noon.
