No. 5 Owls Rally To Defeat Assumption, 5-4

T.K. Kiernan put the Owls had a three-run home run to help the Owls rally on Wednesday.

WORCESTER, Mass. – The No. 5 Nationally ranked Southern Connecticut State University baseball team defeated Assumption College today, 5-4. The Owls were down 4-1 in the seventh inning when the Owls scored three runs on a three-run home run by #T.K. Kiernan# (Wallingford, Conn.). They were able to put up one more run in the top of the eighth on an RBI single by #A.J. Rouleau# (Westborough, Mass.). Kevin Pettine (Somerset, Mass.) started for the Owls and picked up his fourth win of the year, giving up four runs on nine hits and striking out six through seven innings of work. #A.J. Turnier# (Waterford, Conn.) relieved Pettine in the eighth and went one inning giving up one unearned run while walking two. Michael Johnston (Thomaston, Conn.) picked up the save going the final inning and giving up no runs on one hit and fanning one.

Offensively, the Owls were driven by Kiernan who went 2-for-2 in the game, including the big three-run home run and Rouleau who went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Kyle Cummings (Hamden, Conn.) and Kyle Rosadino (Berwyn, Pa.) also chipped in two hits in the game and combined for one RBI and one run scored.

The Owls improve to 23-1 on the season and 8-1 in Northeast-10 Conference play. Their next game is Thursday, April 7 when they host Assumption at 3:30 p.m.
