No. 5 Baseball Sweeps Bentley 8-4, 6-4

NEW HAVEN, Conn.- The No. 5 nationally ranked Southern Connecticut State University Owls defeated the Bentley Falcons today 8-4 and 6-4 in a double-header. In game one, the Owls were down two runs early to the Falcons but were able to put up four runs in third inning. The Falcons immediately answered back with two runs in the fourth to tie the game up. The Owls were able to bounce back in the sixth inning with three runs, all coming with two outs to pull away and come out with the victory. In game two, the Owls got up early and stayed up throughout the entire game. The Owls let the Falcons back into the game in the seventh with two runs to bring the score to 5-4 but a homerun from Nick DeProspo (Worcester, Mass.) in the eighth put the game out of reach for Bentley.

In game one, #A.J. Turnier# (Waterford, Conn.) pitched for the Owls going eight innings giving up four runs on six hits and fanned six batters. Michael Johnston (Thomaston Conn.) went the final inning giving up no runs on one hit and fanned three batters. Offensively, the Owls were carried by DeProspo, who went 3-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored. Kyle Cummings (Hamden, Conn.) also chipped in two hits for the Owls and scored once. Kyle Rosadino (Berwyn, Pa.), Ryan Geffert (Plymouth, Pa.) and #A.J. Rouleau# (Westborough, Mass.) each collected a hit and an RBI in the game.

In game two, Chris Zbin (Colchester, Conn.) started for the Owls giving up four runs on nine hits and struck out 10 in eight innings of work. Johnston came in the final inning again and was able to pick up the save. The offense saw four starters will multiple hits. DeProspo, Rouleau, Bryan Dorsey (Chesire, Conn.) and Michael Cleary (West Boylston, Mass.) each had two hits. Cleary broke out in game two, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored.

The Owls improve to 26-1 on the season and will be back tomorrow to face the University of New Haven at noon.
