NEW HAVEN Conn. – The No. 8 nationally ranked Southern Connecticut State University baseball team defeated Pace University today, 11-0.  The Owls got on the board early in the first with a two-out RBI single from A.J. Rouleau (Westborough, Mass.). Southern was able to put three more runs across the board in the third with a single from Ryan Geffert (Plymouth, Pa.) and a bases clearing triple by Bryan Dorsey (Cheshire, Conn.). The Owls struck for two more in the sixth with a double by Michael Cleary (West Boylston, Mass.) and an RBI groundout by T.J. Shea (Hamden, Conn.)
 
Steve Simon (Middlefield, Conn.) started for the Owls going eight full innings, giving up no runs on seven hits and struck out 12 batters. The 12 strikeouts is a new career high for Simon. A.J. Turnier (Waterford, Conn.) relieved Simon and went the final inning of the game. Geffert led the offense for the Owls going 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored. Rouleau helped the offense producing two RBI and Dorsey chipped in two hits.
 
Southern improves to 35-4-1 and 19-4-1 in Northeast-10 play. The Owls wrap up the regular season on Saturday when they host UMass-Lowell at noon.
