Softball Takes Down Molloy, 11-9 and 6-1

Clermont, Fla. – The Southern Connecticut State University softball team continued their success picking up two more wins sweeping
Molloy College 11-9, and 6-1 Saturday afternoon.

The Owls took the first game 11-9.

In game two action, Junior Kristin Whitley (North Andover, Mass.) singled in the first inning, bringing in Brittany Bucko (Wallington,N.J.) to put the Owls up 1-0 in the first.  The Owls scored three more runs in the inning off an outfield error bringing the score to 4-0 after the first inning. Jessica Rosa (Wallingford, Conn.) posted the RBI.

After Molly notched a run in the second inning, the Owls went back to work in the fifth inning notching two more runs.  Alyssa Downs (Seymour, Conn.) homered sending home Nicole Buch (Darien, Conn.) adding to the Owls lead.

Pitcher Jayme Larson (Aurora, Colo.) was credited with the win, only allowing eight hits and one earned run.

The Owls improve to 6-0, 0-0 (NE-10).

Southern is back in action Sunday, March 11 against Philadelphia University at 9 a.m. and Saint Thomas Aquinas College at 11 a.m.
