Emily Orser (Hamden, Conn.) scored a career-high six points (five goals, one assist) while senior
Katie Walter (Orange, Conn.) finished with a career-high four goals as the Southern Connecticut State University women's lacrosse team won its second game in a row on Wednesday night, 13-10, at American International.
The Owls improve to 3-10 overall and 1-8 in Northeast-10 play. AIC is now 1-12, 0-10.
It was a game in which Southern Connecticut led from start to finish. Walter and Orser scored goals less than a minute apart to give SCSU an early 2-0 lead. After an AIC goal, Orser scored two in a row to pad the lead to 4-1 with 10:21 in the first half.
The Yellow Jackets would net the next two, but
Sarah Muise (Killingworth, Conn.) scored twice in 25 seconds to restore the three-goal lead at 6-3. AIC added one more goal before the half to close the gap to 6-4.
The two teams alternated the first 10 goals of the second half. SCSU received goals from
Sarah Cebry (Burlington, Conn.),
Jessica Shaw (Beverly, Mass.), Walter and two from Orser during that stretch. However, SCSU still had a two-goal advantage before two late goals from Walter padded the lead to 13-9. AIC scored a late goal to make it a 13-10 final.
Nora Anderson (Stratford, Conn.) finished with nine saves in the contest.
The Owls are back in action on Saturday at Merrimack.
