NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Southern Connecticut women's lacrosse was featured in the Top 10 of the NCAA East Region, in the first week of the NCAA Division II Regional Rankings, as announced on Wednesday, April 15, 2026. This is the first time since the 2025 season that the Owls have been featured in the NCAA Division Regional Rankings, with the postseason ahead. The Owls are one of four NE10 teams featured in the first week of rankings. In this first week, the teams are announced in the top 10, but are ranked in alphabetical order and not ranked based on overall or in-region record yet.
The Owls have had an impressive season so far, with an overall record of 11-3 and an NE10 record of 5-2. With the 18-10 victory over Bentley, Southern won their 11th game of the season, which was a new program record in total victories, with 11 wins in a single season. In the NE10, the Owls are ranked third and have the best overall record in the conference. In a 26-1 victory over American International, it was the largest margin of victory in a single game in program history for Southern. Nationally, the Owls are ranked 14th in all of Division II in scoring margin with a 6.38 average margin and are ranked 18th in scoring defense with 8.77 goals allowed per game. Additionally, they are ranked 14th in win percentage with 76.9%.
Individually, goalkeeper
Caelan Connors is ranked ninth in all of Division II in saves percentage with 49.3%. In the NE10, Connors leads the NE10 in saves percentage and is ranked second in goals against average with an average of 9.82 goals allowed per game.
Macy Vail is ranked 10th in the NE10 in goals per game with an average of 2.57 goals per game. Vail is ranked ninth in the NE10 in points per game with an average of 3.64 points per game.
Maddox Burton is ranked seventh in assists with an average of 1.57 assists per game.
Anna Meserve is ranked 10th in draw controls with an average of 3.50 draws won per game and
Allie Welder is ranked 14th in draw controls per game with an average of 3.00 draws won per game. Welder is also ranked ninth in the NE10 in caused turnovers with an average of 1.43 caused turnovers per game.
With the regular season coming to an end next week, the Owls are looking at a pair of must-win contests in order to secure a home game for the upcoming NE10 Championship Tournament, which is set to begin on Saturday, Apr. 25. The Owls will travel to Saint Anselm on Saturday, April 18 before taking on first-place Adelphi on Tuesday, Apr. 21.
