Link to full resultsRINDGE, N.H. – The Southern Connecticut State University men's cross country team competed to an eighth-place finish today (Nov. 22) at the NCAA Division II East Regional at Franklin Pierce University.
The Owls had seven competitors run in the 10k and finished with 266 points.
American International won the regional with 33 points followed by Stonehill with 90 and Robert Wesleyan with 95.
Junior
Dieter Gutbrod (Sandy Hook, Conn.) led the Owls with an 11th place finish with a time of 31:52.5. Gutbrod also earned All-Region honors for his performance on Saturday.
Senior
Tom Saksa (Seymour, Conn.) was next for the Owls in 45th place with a time of 33:04. Junior
Sunil Kates (Hartford, Conn.) followed in 53rd in a time of 33:22.6. Junior
Samuel Parton (Fairdfield, Conn.) also came in 77th place with a time of 34:06.4.
Also finishing for the Owls were sophomore
Dean Bhatt (Hamden, Conn.) (87th, 34:38.3), senior
Michael Vagnini (Woodbury, Conn.) (95, 34:51.0) and freshman
Steven Cugini (Milford, Conn.) (100, 34:55.2).
The Owls are back in action on December 6th as they take part in the NCAA Northeast Championship in Louisville, Ky. Time is to be determined.
