SCSU Men's Cross Country Wins Fourth-Straight NCAA East Regional, Jonathon Volpe Wins Individual Championship

HOPKINTON, N.H. – Southern Connecticut men's cross country won its fourth-straight NCAA Division II East Regional Championship while Jonathon Volpe became the first SCSU cross country runner to win a individual regional championship in program history.  

The Owls (34 pts.) dominated the field, winning by 72 points over second place Roberts Wesleyan (106) as Southern placed four runners in the top six. Volpe led the way with a 32-second victory. The Owls senior posted a time of 31:02.78, finishing ahead of the second-place runners time of 31:34.82. He previously finished second in 2023 and third in 2022. He also finished 10th in 2021 as a freshman.

Colton Sallum finished third at 31:42.60 followed by John Glidden in fifth at 32:13.27 and Nathanael Huebner in sixth at 32:14.26. Frankie Porrini finished 19th at 33:03.22 while Sean Barkasy was 27th at 33:29.65.

The Owls advance to the 2025 NCAA Division II National Championships on Nov. 22 at the Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course in Kenosha, Wisc.
