SCSU Cross Country Set to Compete at NCAA DII National Championships

After winning conference and regional titles, SCSU Cross Country will compete at the 2025 NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships, hosted by University of Wisconsin Parkside.

Women's Notes: Southern Connecticut women's cross country is making their third straight trip to the National Championships after bringing home their second NE10 and East Region titles in program history. Last year, they placed 33rd at the National Championships in Sacramento. Courtney Henchcliffe will lead the way after becoming the first Owl in program history to win the Regional Individual Title and the second to win the NE10 Individual Title. She was named the NE10's Runner of the Year, and Head Coach Melissa Stoll Funaro was named Coach of the Year. PJ Dauphinais (3rd place), Rae Geddes (8th place), Erin Sola (15th place), and Abigail Bajorek (17th place) were named All-Region alongside Henchcliffe. 

Men's Notes: SCSU men's cross country is set to compete in the National Championships for the fourth straight year. In 2024, they placed 33rd at the national meet. Leading the way is 2025 NE10 Runner of the Year Jonathan Volpe, who became the first runner in program history to win the Regional Individual Title and win the Conference Individual Title more than once. Colton Sallum was named NE10 Rookie of the Year after finishing 2nd at the conference championships and 3rd at the regional championships, becoming the fourth consecutive runner from Southern to do so. Head Coach John Wallin was named Coach of the Year for the fourth straight year. Along with Volpe and Sallum, John Glidden (5th), Nate Huebner (6th), and Frankie Porrini (19th) were named to the All-Conference team.
