Box Score NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Southern Connecticut State University football team lost to Merrimack College in a Northeast-10 Conference contest earlier today, 35-7.
The Owls are now 2-8 overall and 2-7 in NE-10 play. Merrimack improved to 4-6 and 4-5 in league action.
By virtue of today's result, the Owls will host Pace on Nov. 15 in the regular season finale during the NE-10 Championship weekend. SCSU defeated the Setters by a score of 32-10 earlier this season.
Brian Wilcox (Jericho, Vt.) registered his second two interception outing of the year for the Owls and finished with 10 tackles.
Michael Cerisano (Newburgh, N.Y.) added nine tackles and an interception.
Zachary Williams finished with six tackles, including five for loss.
The Warriors opened the scoring in the first quarter on a 76-yard pass from Nick Laspada to Justin Mount. The PAT made it 7-0 after the opening quarter.
SCSU tied the game on the first play of the second quarter on a 29-yard run from
Shaquan Hall (Newark, N.J.). Jeff Groth (Shelton, Conn.) added the PAT to even the score.
Merrimack took the ensuing possession and went back ahead for good in just five plays, capped by a five-yard run from Armond McRae. Laspada then hit Mount on a 12-yard touchdown pass later in the second quarter to make it a 21-7 cushion at halftime.
The Warriors added 14 points in the third quarter to build a 35-7 cushion.
