Link to ResultsRINDGE, N.H. – The Southern Connecticut State University men's cross country team competed to a seventh-place finish today (Nov. 9th) at the Northeast-10 Conference Championship (8k) at Franklin Pierce University.
The Owls had eight competitors and finished seventh with 181 points.
American International won the meet with 19 points followed by Stonehill with 52 and Franklin Pierce with 124.
Junior
Dieter Gutbrod (Sandy Hook, Conn.) led the Owls with a ninth place finish with a time of 28:21. Gutbrod also earned Second Team All-Conference for his performance.
Sophomore
Dean Bhatt (Hamden, Conn.) was next for the Owls in 34th place with a time of 29:23. Senior
Tom Saksa (Seymour, Conn.) followed in 46th with a time of 29:48. Junior
Sunil Kates (Hartford, Conn.) also came in 51st in a time of 29:55.
Also finishing for the Owls were
Samuel Parton (Fairfield, Conn.) (64th, 30:21),
Michael Vagnini (Woodbury, Conn.) (77th, 30:54),
Steven Cugini (Milford, Conn.) (78th, 30:58) and
Michael Leone (Danbury, Conn.) (140th, 34:13).
The Owls return to action on Nov. 22 for the NCAA Division II Northeast Regional Championships. The regional is scheduled for 1:15 p.m. from Mines Falls in Nashua, N.H.
