Box Score 2 FORT PIERCE, Fla. - The Southern Connecticut State University baseball team used strong pitching performances from
Rocco Cundari (Norwalk, Conn.) and
A.J. Turnier (Waterford, Conn.) as part of a doubleheader sweep against Mercy on Saturday. The Owls won the twinbill by scores of 8-1 and 2-0.
SCSU improved to 4-3-1 on the year with the wins.Â
Cundari won game one by meriting just one unearned run on three hits in seven innings. In the nightcap, Turnier went the distance and allowed just five hits with seven strikeouts.
Offensively, the Owls were by
Matt Burns (Cheshire, Conn.) who went 4-for-8 with two triples, two runs scored and three RBI.
Ethan Joyce (Exeter, N.H.) had four hits as well with a run scored and a RBI.
Nick Baviello (Orange, Conn.) and
T.J. Shea (Hamden, Conn.) both added three hits.
