YAPHANK, N.Y. - The Southern Connecticut State University baseball team was swept in a doubleheader by Merrimack. Southern Connecticut fell 6-0 in game one and lost game two 10-6 in 12 innings.

Merrimack broke open the first game with a five-run eighth inning. Rocco Cundari (Norwalk, Conn.) struck out eight over seven innings.

Game two saw the Owls blow a 5-3 ninth inning lead only to rally in the bottom half to tie the score at six and force extras.

Julian Sobin (Ansonia, Conn.) drove in three in the second game.

Nick Baviello (Orange, Conn.) went 6-for-10 on the day.

The Owls, 5-7-1, play two tomorrow against Assumption on Long Island.
