YAPHANK, N.Y. - The Southern Connecticut State University baseball team split its doubleheader against Assumption. The Owls lost game one 10-6 before winning the second game 12-2.
T.K. Kiernan (Wallingford, Conn.) hit a three-run home run and
Joe Breen (Nashua, N.H.) had three hits in game one.
In the second game,
Tyler Albrecht (Pleasant Valley, N.Y.) threw seven innings to earn his first win of the season. The senior gave up five hits and two runs, one earned, while striking out seven.
T.J. Shea (Hamden, Conn.) went four-for-five and drove in four. Breen and Shea hit back-to-back homers to lead off the home half of the fifth.
The Owls, 6-8-1, play next at Adelphi on Wednesday.
