NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Nick Baviello (Orange, Conn.) went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and T.K. Kiernan (Wallingford, Conn.) went 2-for-4 with three RBI as the Southern Connecticut State University baseball team defeated Le Moyne 9-2.


The Owls got on the board first, scoring three runs in the third. Baviello and Kiernan drove in runs during the frame.


Southern Connecticut increased its lead with four runs in the fourth. Kiernan had the big hit of the inning, a single with the bases loaded to score two runs. 

In the seventh, Kyle Holland (Norwich, Conn.) singled home Joe Breen (Nashua, N.H.) for the Owls' eighth run. 

Le Moyne scored its two runs in the eighth off SCSU reliever Greg Zullo (Branford, Conn.). 

Southern Connecticut added one more in the eighth to close the scoring.


Pat Egan (Aberdeen, N.J.) pitched seven shutout innings to up the win for the Owls, 15-11-1. The junior allowed three hits, walked one and struck out seven

Matt Burns (Cheshire, Conn.), and Ethan Joyce (Exeter, N.H.) each had two hits and scored twice for SCSU, who visits Post tomorrow afternoon.
