Box Score 2 NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Southern Connecticut State University softball team took the first two of a three game set with American International College today in New Haven, Conn.
The Owls are now 18-18 overall, 8-12 in Northeast-10 Conference play. AIC is 10-25 overall, 3-15 in NE-10 play.
Game 1The Owls were able to shutout the Yellow Jackets in the first game starting in the first inning with a couple RBI's from the captains, a single from
Kaley Marden (Fremont, Calif.) and a sacrifice fly to left field from
Julie Muscarella (Suffield, Conn.)
SCSU continued to pile it on in the second, a double to left field by
Giuliana D'Arcangelo (Brookfield, Conn.) and a two RBI single up the middle by
Nicole Buch (Darien, Conn.) gave them the 4-0 lead.
Another RBI from Marden in the fourth inning and a single to left from Arianna Tedeschi (Deer Park, N.Y.) in the fifth inning got the score to 6-0 in favor of the Owls.
Last, came a walk-off sacrifice bunt from pinch hitter
Brooke Franco (Middletown, Conn.) to end the game in six innings by a final score of 8-0.
Game 2The powerful scoring continued over to the second game as Southern was able to shutout AIC yet again.
Muscarella hit a dagger to shortstop which gave SCSU the quick 1-0 lead in the third inning and Marden reaching first base on an error brought home D'Arcangelo to bring the final score to 2-0.
The Owls are back in action tomorrow for their Senior Day finale against AIC. First pitch is set to be thrown at 12 p.m.
