WINDING DOWN THE REGULAR SEASONThe Southern Connecticut State baseball team wraps up its Northeast-10 Conference schedule on Tuesday afternoon at home against Adelphi. The regular season concludes on Thursday against Post.

ALL-TIME AGAINST ADELPHI AND POSTThe Owls enter the week with an 18-18-2 record against Adelphi and a 17-4-1 mark against Post.

SCOUTING THE PANTHERSAdelphi enters the week at 15-17 (9-9 NE-10) and in fourth place in the NE-10 Southwest Division. Offensively, Nick Zito (.341/.390/.488) leads/shares team lead in home runs (4), RBI (23) and steals (6). Robert Vani (.331/.393/.488) leads the squad with three triples and is tied for the team lead with seven doubles. He has also chipped in five steals and 14 RBI. On the mound, Jonathan Mulford (5-0, 2.23 ERA) has 35 strikeouts and 13 walks in 44.1 innings pitched. Nikolas Batas (2-2, 3.42 ERA) has made 20 relief appearances with 19 strikeouts in 23.2 innings of relief. Mike Cranston serves as the team's closer and has converted six saves and holds a 4.44 ERA.

PREVIOUS MEETINGS WITH ADELPHIAdelphi scored eight unanswered runs over the final three innings to top Southern 8-5 in a March 18 non-conference matchup in Miami. On April 1, the Panthers scored four times in the seventh and eighth innings to win 4-3. On April 14, the Owls rallied to tie the game at 4-4 late, but ultimately came up short in a 5-4, 10-inning loss.

SCOUTING THE EAGLESPost (18-15, 13-5 CACC) will conclude its regular season against Southern this Thursday. The Eagles wrap up their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference schedule on Tuesday at home with a doubleheader against Wilmington. The team is batting .237 this season, led by Alex Wright (.309) and Dylan Pastor (.301). Don Walsh leads the team with three homers and 17 RBI.

PREVIOUS MEETINGS WITH POSTPost topped the Owls 8-7 back on April 18, 2014 in Waterbury, Conn. The Owls pounded out 13 hits, including three from
Nick Baviello. The Eagles were able to hold on despite a four run rally from the Owls in the ninth inning.

LAST TIME OUTThe Southern Connecticut State baseball team split a doubleheader with Saint Rose on Saturday's Senior Day, capping a three-game series where the Owls won two out of three games. SeniorsÂ

Brandon Docimo all chipped in two hits apiece in the team's 7-6 game one victory. Docimo provided the game-winning hit with a two run triple in the seventh inning. The Golden Knights rebounded in game two, holding off a late Owls' rally for a 2-1 win.Â
Jordan Picini combined to throw two innings of relief in both games, picking up the win in game one. Baviello combined to go 5-for-7 with two runs, one RBI, one walk and three steals on the day.

BAVIELLO NAMED NE-10 PLAYER OF THE WEEKSenior second baseman
Nick Baviello was named the Northeast-10 Player of the Week on April 27. Baviello turned in a .600/.647/.600 slash line last week, going 9-for-15 last week with two walks, three RBI and two runs scored. He also added five steals in as many attempts.
HARPER NAMED NE-10 AND ECAC PITCHER OF THE WEEKJunior
Jason Harper was named the Northeast-10 and ECAC Pitcher of the Week on April 13. Harper carried a no-hit bid through the first 8.2 innings at Stonehill on April 12, finishing with a complete game, one-hit shutout with one walk and nine strikeouts to lead the Owls to a 2-0 win.

TURNIER TABBED NORTHEAST-10 CO-PITCHER OF THE WEEKRedshirt senior pitcher
A.J. Turnier was named the NE-10's Co-Pitcher of the Week on April 6. Turnier earned the complete game shutout victory in the Owls' 1-0 win on April 3 against American Int'l. He allowed just three hits and struck out seven to run his record to 5-1 on the season.

BURNS TABBED AS PLAYER OF THE WEEKRedshirt junior outfielder
Matt Burns was named the NE-10 Conference Player of the Week on February 23. Burns batted .500 (8-for-16) and had a .556 on-base pct. in the Owls' four games on Feb. 20-22, totaling seven runs scored, six RBI, two walks and seven stolen bases. He also added a pair of triples and a solo home run.

AMONG THE NCAA STATS LEADERSPat Egan was sixth with 12.09 strikeouts per nine innings for Southern Connecticut.
Rocco Cundari was 13th in earned run average with a 1.56 mark. The Owls were seventh in strikeout-to-walk ratio, 12th in strikeouts per nine innings, 15th in shutouts, 17th in WHIP and 25th in walks per nine innings.

ON DECKThe NE-10 Conference Tournament kicks off on Tuesday, May 5 with a single elimination game, featuring the top four seeds in both the Northeast and Southwest Divisions. The top two seeds in each division will host, with the winners meeting in a double-elimination tournament beginning on Thursday, May 7. The double elimination-portion of the tournament will be hosted by the highest remaining seed in the Southwest Division (*note - Pace is unable to host due to field renovations).
