Box Score COLCHESTER, Vt. – Ignited by the first career hat trick from senior
Colleen Murphy (Branford, Conn.), the Southern Connecticut State University field hockey team opened its 2015 season with a 4-1 win over Mansfield earlier today.
Murphy collected her hat trick during a span of 13:16 of the first half. She opened the scoring just 11:40 into play off an assist from
Zoe Fanolis (Hamden, Conn.). Then, 4:19 later, Murphy scored on a goal assisted by
Bailey McGinnis (North Branford, Conn.). She capped the hat trick with just over 10 minutes remaining in the frame on an unassisted goal.
In total, the Owls registered four first half goals. Only 30 seconds after Murphy's third of the game,
Emma Farrel (Cheshire, Conn.) netted her first goal of the year.
Alicia Jackson (Burlington, Conn.) was credited with an assist on that goal.

Audrey Dolloff (Raynham, Mass.) stopped all three shots she saw in the first 58:42 of action before giving way to
Kelli McCombs (Bristow, Va.) for the remainder of regulation.
The Owls are back in action tomorrow when they face No. 4 nationally ranked Shippensburg.
