Box Score 2 BROOKVILLE, N.Y. - The Southern Connecticut State University softball team dropped a pair of games to LIU Post on Thursday, 6-0 in game one and 4-3 in 9 innings in game two.
The Owls are now 6-18 overall and 0-6 in the NE-10 while the Pioneers are 18-6.
In game two, the Owls managed 11 hits.
Samantha Groskritz (Granby, Conn.) went 2-for-3 with a two RBI double in the sixth inning. It scored
Victoria Ceballos (Bridgeport, Conn.) and
Leanna Feerick (Maybrook, N.Y.) and gave Southern a 2-1 lead. The Owls extended their lead in the top of the seventh when Feerick singled to right field, scoring
Arianne Tedeschi (Deer Park, N.Y.).
LIU Post picked up two runs in the bottom of the seventh to send the game to extra innings. It manufactured a run in the bottom of the ninth to win.
Audrey Dolloff (Raynham, Mass.) picked up a single in the fourth inning of game one. She is now batting .367 on the year, the highest among any Owl with 30 at-bats.
Catherine Ursillo (Bergenfield, N.J.) also picked up a single in the game. She is tied for second on the team with 19 hits.
The Owls return to action on Saturday when they travel to Stonehill for a doubleheader starting at 12 p.m.
