Box Score 2 NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University softball team dropped a pair of games to Pace on Wednesday afternoon, 11-0 and 7-2.
Samantha Groskritz (Granby, Conn.) hit her second home run of the year to left-center field in the fourth inning of game two.
The Owls are now 8-25 overall and 1-14 in the Northeast-10, while Pace improves to 19-10 and 11-3.
Groskritz's home run tied the game up for the second time.
Lauren Yaffa (Manchester, Conn.) singled in
Audrey Dolloff (Raynham, Mass.) from second base to knot the game up at one in the second inning. Yaffa went 2-for-3 in game two.
Groskritz's blast came after Pace's Surina Sandhu hit a solo shot, herself, in the top of the third. The Setters broke the 2-2 tie in the fifth with two runs and added another in the sixth.
Pace picked up nine runs in the first inning of game one and did not look back.
Carissa Wasikowski (Seymour, Conn.) smacked a double, her first of the year, to left-center field in the top of the sixth inning. She advanced to third on a
Holly Noe (Groton, Conn.) single, but could not be brought home.
Southern Connecticut's next game is Friday at Queens at 2:30 and 4:30 p.m.
