NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Senior quarterback
Raymond Catapano (Franklin Square, N.Y.) amassed 238 total yards and three touchdowns to lead the Southern Connecticut State University football team to a 28-9 win over Merrimack on Homecoming.

THE KEY STATS:
- Catapano finished 6-of-11 for 98 yards through the air and had 17 rushes for 140 yards and two touchdowns on the ground, including a 64-yard scamper.

David Spears, Jr. (Springfield, Mass.) totaled four tackles, a sack, a forced fumble and had a 32-yard interception that he took back for a touchdown.

Eli Parks (Bristol, Conn.) had 62 yards on 19 carries and added two catches for 27 yards.
- The Owls jumped out to a 14-0 lead and had a 28-3 lead at the break.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Owls assembled a nine-play, 54-yard drive for their first score of the game. Catapano capped the drive with a two-yard run, and
Jose Conde (West Haven, Conn.) followed with the PAT.
- On the ensuing Merrimack drive, Spears picked off a Warriors pass and, after tiptoeing the far sideline, plunged into the end zone for the pick six.
- A field goal from Merrimack got the visitors to 14-3, but Catapano went 64 yards for a score late in the second quarter to pad the cushion to 21-3. Catapano then connected with
Earl Myers (Uniondale, N.Y.) on a 34-yard touchdown pass in the closing seconds of the first half for a 28-3 cushion.
