MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Senior co-captain Greg Zullo (Branford, Conn.) had four hits, four runs scored and three RBI to lead the Southern Connecticut State University baseball team to an 11-2 win over Mercy to wrap up its trip in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Mike DeMartino (New Haven, Conn.) added three hits and three RBI and Connor Redahan (Greenwich, Conn.) three hits and a RBI to aid the Owls' 16-hit attack.Jean Ubiera (New Haven, Conn.) pitched three innings of relief and allowed one run to earn the win.
HOW IT HAPPENED: Run-scoring singles from Zullo, DeMartino and Redahan gave the Owls' a quick 3-0 lead after one-half inning. In the third, Kyle Hart (North Branford, Conn.) plated Zullo with a fielders' choice to extend the cushion to 4-0.
SCSU pulled away with three more runs in the fourth. Tyler Criscuolo (Branford, Conn.) hit a RBI double and Zullo followed with a two-run blast out of the park.
Mercy scored a run in the bottom of the fourth, but the Owls answered right back in the top of the fifth to restore the seven run lead. SCSU tacked on two more runs in the eighth and one more in the ninth for an 11-2 final.
UP NEXT: The Owls return to action March 4 as they host Post University in their home opening doubleheader. Games are set for 12 p.m and 3 p.m.
