NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Senior co-captain Greg Zullo (Branford, Conn.) had three hits, two RBI and one run scored as the Southern Connecticut State University baseball team ended in a 6-6 draw against Post University in its first home stint of the season.

Tyler Criscuolo (Branford, Conn.) had two hits and one RBI including a sixth inning triple, while Jim Palmer (Milford, Conn.) added one hit, three runs and two stolen bases to the scorebook.

WHAT TRANSPIRED
Southern Connecticut opened the scoring in the first; as Palmer scored on a wild pitch. The Owls scored again in the third to take a 2-0 lead on a RBI single from Zullo.

The stayed stayed that way into the fifth, when Post scored an unearned run to cut the gap to 2-1. Michael DeMartino (Norwalk, Conn.) got that run right back in the home half of the frame with a RBI single for a 3-1 cushion.

Post answered right back with a run of its own before the Owls seemingly pulled away with two runs in the sixth for a 5-2 lead. The big hit in that inning for the Owls was a RBI triple blasted from the bat of Criscuolo.  

Post strung together four runs in the seventh to take the lead courtesy of two hits, four walks and a groundout.

Down to their last out, Zullo stepped to the plate and pounded an RBI triple to center field in the bottom of the eighth inning to tie the game just as daylight was coming to a close concluding the contest and ending in a tie, 6-6.

ON DECK
The Owls travel to the Sunshine State for a nine-game road trip. They will open the tour on March 10 against fellow Northeast-10 playmate, Assumption College in Fort Pierce, Fla.
