OFF TO THE SUNSHINE STATE
Nine games in Florida await the Southern Connecticut State University baseball team from March 10-18. The Owls, who are coming off a 3-3 tie against Post on Monday, are back in action on Friday against Assumption. SCSU will also play two games against Caldwell and Merrimack, and single games against Molloy, Post, Lynn and AIC during the trip.
ALL-TIME VS. ASSUMPTION
The Greyhounds lead the all-time series against the Owls, 33-14. In the last meeting, Assumption won a close affair, 8-7.
ALL-TIME VS. MOLLOY Â
The Owls lead the series, 5-0, with Southern Connecticut  winning the last meeting, 17-0, back on Feb. 25.
ALL-TIME VS. CALDWELL
Southern Connecticut and Caldwell have yet to meet on the diamond.Â
ALL-TIME VS. POST
The Owls lead the all-time series 10-2-2. The two teams played to a 6-6 tie earlier in the 2017 season.
ALL-TIME VS. LYNN
The Fighting Knights of Lynn University lead the Owls in the all-time series, 3-1. In last year's meeting, the Owls came away victorious with a 22-14 win.
ALL-TIME VS. AIC
American International leads the all-time series 46-30. Southern Connecticut won the last meeting, 7-5.
ALL-TIME VS. MERRIMACK
The Warriors from Merrimack College lead the Owls in the all-time series, 23-18. Merrimack won the last decision, 8-3.Â
LAST TIME OUT
The Owls and Post played to a 6-6 tie at the Ballpark at Southern Connecticut on March 6. The Owls led by a 5-2 margin in the seventh before Post scored four times to take the lead. With daylight running out in the bottom of the eighth,
Greg Zullo stepped to the plate and pounded an RBI triple to center field to tie the game. He had three hits, two RBI and scored a run for the Owls.
ZULLO CONTINUES HOT STREAKÂ
With three hits against Post, senior co-captain
Greg Zullo improved to a .536 batting average with 12 RBI and seven runs through seven games.
CIRCLING THE BASES
The Owls have swiped 20 bases through the first seven games of the year.
Jim Palmer has nine to lead the club, while
Nick Lamberti and
Tyler Criscuolo have four each.
BRYANT ON A ROLL
Cole Bryant registered his second straight complete game shutout, going all nine innings in a 17-0 win over Molloy. He allowed just four hits and fanned five and has now tossed 18 scoreless innings to start the season. Dating back to last year, over his last five appearances, he has not allowed an earned run in 35 innings pitched.
BRYANT NAMED NCBWA PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Cole Bryant was named National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association's East Region Pitcher of the Week for his play during the Owls' games in South Carolina.
• Bryant registered his second straight complete game shutout, going all nine innings in a 17-0 win over Molloy in Myrtle Beach. He allowed just four hits and fanned five.
ZULLO AND BRYANT EARN NE10 HONORS

Cole Bryant and
Greg Zullo have been recognized with weekly honors from the NE10 for their play during the Owls' games in South Carolina.Â
• Bryant repeated as the league's Pitcher of the Week for his scoreless effort in a 17-0 win over Molloy.Â
• Zullo was named to the weekly honor roll due to his performance across all four games in S.C where he went .529 (9-for-17), with five runs and five RBI.
OWLS SPLIT MYRTLE BEACH TRIP
The Southern Connecticut State baseball team played four games in three days (Feb. 24-26) in South Carolina, where it was victorious over Molloy and Mercy, but fell to Wilmington and LIU Post.

Greg Zullo totaled a career-high five RBI in the season-opening win over Bentley.
OWLS' DUO HONORED

Cole Bryant of the Southern Connecticut State University baseball team was selected as the NE10 Pitcher of the Week after his performance in the Owls' 9-0 win over Bentley during the season-opening weekend. In addition, sophomore
Tyler Criscuolo was selected to the league's weekly honor roll after his performance in the Owls' two games, where he batted .500.

The Southern Connecticut State University baseball team has been selected to finish fifth in the Southwest Division of the NE10 Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll.

Cole Bryant will serve as team captains for the 2017 season.
LOOKING BACK AT LAST SEASON
The baseball team finished the 2016 season with an overall record of 16-25-1. The Owls were selected to finish fourth in the Southwest Division preseason poll. Southern Connecticut came up just short of the NE10 Championship, finishing in fifth place.Â

THREE OWLS EARN NE10 YEAR-END HONORS
Jake Paul,
Nick Lamberti and
Brandon Rentas were all honored by the NE10 at the conclusion of last year. Paul earned Second-Team All-Conference honors, while both Rentas and Lamberti earned a spot on the NE-10 All-Rookie Team.
EXCELLING IN THE CLASSROOM
Southern Connecticut had 11 student-athletes selected to the Northeast-10 Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll for their work in the classroom during the fall, 2016 semester.
