TEAM RECORDS: SCSU (14-4-1, 3-0 NE10) | SAINT ROSE (13-10, 3-4 NE10)

GAME 1

Mike DeMartino (New Haven, Conn.) and Connor Redahan (Greenwich, Conn.) each had two hits, with the former hitting a two-run homerun in the Owls 10-0 win over Saint Rose in game one.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Redahan singled up the middle scoring two runs and putting the Owls on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning. DeMartino and Ryan Kaplan (Fishkill, N.Y.) followed in the order, both walking and loading the bases for Griffin Garabedian (Hamden, Conn.), who then walked scoring Redahan and putting the Owls up 3-0.

Jim Palmer (Milford, Conn.) singled through the left side scoring DeMartino. Nick Lamberti (East Haven, Conn.) stepped to the plate with a hot bat blasting a double down the right field line scoring three runs and increasing the Owls lead to 7-0.

Redahan singled in the bottom of the eighth inning when DeMartino stepped to the plate hitting a two-run homerun making the score 9-0. Freshman John Spoto (Stamford, Conn.) doubled  and Garabedian singled to drive him in to complete the Owls surge.

Nate Carney (Bristol, Conn.) pitched a complete game allowing just four hits and striking out seven with thirty-one batters faced to earn his third win of the season.

GAME TWO

Greg Zullo (Branford, Conn.) and DeMartino both recorded two hits and combined for three RBI in the Owls 4-2 win over Saint Rose in game two of today's doubleheader. Griffin Bremer (Higganum, Conn.) pitched eight complete innings allowing only one earned run with five strikeouts.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Saint Rose scored one run in the second inning and another in the top of the ninth, but their offense fell short as the Owls continued their strong play in game two on the day.

Lamberti opened the game with a double to right center field. Zullo hit a RBI double down the right field line bringing Lamberti home and giving the Owls an early 1-0 lead.

DeMartino hit a single down the right field line scoring Kyle Hart (North Branford, Conn.) in the fourth inning and recorded another RBI off a single through the left side that scored Zullo in the sixth inning giving the Owls a 3-1 lead.

Palmer began the seventh inning with a double to right center and later scored after Zullo got caught in a pickle trying to steal second after reaching first on a walk.

Brendan Ebert (Berlin, Conn.) entered the game in the ninth inning relieving Bremer and ultimately earning the save. Ebert struck out all three batters he faced to secure win, 4-2, and the weekend sweep.
