NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University baseball team went 1-1 in today's doubleheader against LIU Post.

GAME ONE
Game one saw a lot of offensive action as both teams tallied eleven hits apiece, but ultimately the Owls dropped a 9-7 decision to LIU.
Kyle Hart (North Branford, Conn.) went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run, while
Tyler Criscuolo (Branford, Conn.) went 3-for-5 with one RBI and one run scored in the Owls loss.
LIU jumped on the board in the first inning, where they took a 3-0 lead. The Owls bounced back after Hart nailed a single through the left side scoring two runs.
Mike DeMartino (New Haven, Conn.) singled through the right side scoring one run and tying the game at three. The Owls weren't done there as
Ryan Kaplan (Fishkill, N.Y.) hit an RBI single through the right side of the field scoring Hart and putting them up 4-3 in the bottom of the first inning.
The Pioneers tied it in the second off of a single through the left side that scored one run, 4-4.
The next inning and a half were scoreless until LIU rallied scoring five runs to increase their lead to 9-4. In the fifth inning, Lamberti singled up the middle scoring
Connor Redahan (Greenwich, Conn.) and Criscuolo hit a sacrifice fly scoring one run, 9-6.
Three scoreless innings later, SCSU tallied one more run, but LIU was able to hold them to just that.
GAME TWO
Cole Bryant (Newington, Conn.) continued his reign on the mound as he pitched a complete game, and allowed just two hits to earn his seventh victory of the year.
The game was scoreless until the fourth inning when Hart hit a ball to left center field to advance
Greg Zullo (Branford, Conn.) and bring in
Nick Lamberti (East Haven, Conn.) to give the Owls the 1-0 lead.
Two batters later, Redahan stepped to the plate with the bases loaded, where he grounded out to the shortstop to advance the runners, bringing in Zullo and giving the to the Owls a 2-0 lead.
Bryant proved to be the deciding factor in game two as he held off the Pioneers offense. He pitched a complete seven-inning game and struck out eight of the 23 batters faced.
UP NEXT: The Owls will host Saint Rose on Tuesday and Adelphi on Wednesday. Both are set to start at 3:30 p.m.
