NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University baseball team dropped both games today against No. 7 Southern New Hampshire University.

TEAM RECORDS: So. Connecticut  (15-6-1, 4-0 NE10) | So. New Hampshire (20-5, 6-1 NE10)

GAME ONE
Ryan Kaplan (Fishkill, N.Y.) had one hit and scored three runs, while Jim Palmer (Milford, Conn.) went recorded one hit with two RBI in the Owls 9-6 loss to SNHU.

SNHU recorded at least one run in each of the first three innings giving them a 5-0 lead. The Owls scored three runs in the fifth to come within two, but the Penman came back scoring three runs in the sixth inning and added another in the seventh.

SCSU battled back as they scored three more runs between the seventh and the ninth inning, but they fell short losing 9-6.

GAME TWO
Nick Lamberti (East Haven, Conn.) went 2-for-3 with one RBI and Nolan Cloutier (Wallingford, Conn.) went 1-for-3 and scored one run in the Owls 3-1 loss in game two against Southern New Hampshire.

Cloutier singled through the right side in the top of the third inning to put a runner on base. Lamberti opened the scoring when he hit an RBI single, which scored Cloutier, 1-0 Owls.

The Owls run was unanswered until the bottom of the fifth inning when SNHU tied the game, 1-1.

The deadlock was broken in the bottom of the eighth inning when SNHU took the lead and scored two runs. The Penman held their lead in the top of the ninth, where they did not allow SCSU to score and claimed a 3-1 victory.

The Owls will travel to Franklin Pierce University tomorrow, April 9 for a doubleheader beginning 12 p.m.
