Greg Zullo (Branford, Conn.) had a career-high 6 RBI in game two as the Southern Connecticut State University baseball squad to split today's doubleheader at Franklin Pierce.

GAME ONE
The Owls came out of the gates hot as they scored three runs in the top of the first inning. The lead off batter,
Jim Palmer (Milford, Conn.), hit a single to left center field, which opened play.
Nick Lamberti (East Haven, Conn.) and
Tyler Criscuolo (Branford, Conn.) walked to load the bases as
Kyle Hart (North Branford, Conn.) came to the plate and grounded out to bring Palmer home and give the Owls a 1-0 lead.
Mike DeMartino (New Haven, Conn.) then singled to center field to score Criscuolo and Lamberti and increased the Owls lead to three.
The Ravens would score one in the second to bring the Owls lead down to two, 3-1. In the fourth inning SCSU would have a scoring barrage, where the offense was further ignited and they added eight runs, which started with a Hart double, who then advanced to third on a DeMartino groundout.
Nolan Cloutier (Wallingford, Conn.) had an RBI single to center field to score Hart.
Ryan Kaplan (Fishkill, N.Y.) then singled to advance Cloutier to second, and
Connor Redahan (Greenwich, Conn.) walked to load the bases. Cloutier, Kaplan, and Redahan scored on wild pitches to give the Owls a seven run lead. Zullo would then double to right field to score Lamberti. DeMartino would then hit an RBI double to score Zullo ending the Owls massive eight-run escapade.
The Owls would score for more runs three in the seventh and on in the eight and would hold off the Ravens late rally to give the Owls the 15-11 decision.
GAME TWO
SCSU dropped a 17-9 decision in game two of today's doubleheader against Franklin Pierce.
Fresh off a 15-11 win in game one, the Owls bats stayed hot. Zullo went 3-for-4 with a career-high 6 RBI. The Owls collected offensive from Palmer who went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and Lamberti who went 4-for-5 with 4 runs scored.
SCSU jumped on the scoreboard early where they held a 5-1 lead going into the fourth inning. Franklin Pierce would score two runs and creep up on the Owls, 5-3. SCSU answered in the top of the fifth inning with two more runs making the score 7-3. The Ravens offense exploded in the bottom of the fifth inning, where they scored nine runs and took over the lead, 12-7. The Owls answered in the sixth with two runs, 12-9, but Franklin Pierce countered scoring five runs, giving them a commanding 17-9 lead. The final two innings held both teams off the score sheet ultimately ending in a Ravens victory.
