TIME TO GO DANCING
For the seventh time since 2001, the Southern Connecticut State University baseball team is headed to the NCAA Tournament. The Owls, who earned the No. 6 seed in the East Region, will open NCAA play on Thursday morning at 11 a.m. against the No. 3 seed, St. Thomas Aquinas. SCSU will face either No. 2 New Haven or No. 7 Dominican in the second game on Friday. An Owls' win against STAC will send the club to the 7 p.m. game on Friday, while a loss to force the squad into an 11 a.m. start. All games will be played at the host site, Southern New Hampshire University.
IN THE NCAA TOURNAMENT
The Owls have recorded a mark of 16-13 all-time in the NCAA Tournament. SCSU lost its first two games in 2001 and 2008. The Owls swept through the regional in 2005 with three wins before losing their first two games at the College World Series. SCSU also reached the regional finals in 2006 and 2010, posting a 3-2 record on both occasions. The Owls went 7-3 in the NCAA Tournament in 2011 to reach the College World Series and finish fourth overall in the nation.
LOOKING TO REPLICATE THE LAST TRIP
When the Owls last made the NCAA Tournament in 2011, they won the East Regional (for the second time in school history) and advanced to the College World Series. SCSU registered its first two CWS wins in Cary, N.C. en route to a semifinals appearance.
EIGHT OWLS HONOREDÂ
An octet of Owls were recognized by the NE10 with year-end honors, as voted by the league's coaches. Seniors

Brendan Ebert all earned honors by the NE10. Lamberti and Zullo were named First-Team All-Conference, while Palmer and Bryant earned Second-Team All-Conference honors DeMartino and Hart earned Third- Team All-Conference accolades and both Carney and Ebert earned a spot on the NE-10 All-Rookie Team.
ALL-TIME VS. STAC
The Owls hold a 3-1 lead in the all-time series with STAC. The last contests were played in 2016. The Spartans claimed a 7-3 decision before the Owls picked up a 12-3 triumph in Boca Raton, Fla.
ALL-TIME VS. Â DOMINICAN
The Owls hold a 3-1 lead in the all-time series with Dominican. The last contest was played in 2016, with the Chargers picking up a 3-2 win over the Owls in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
ALL-TIME VS. NEW HAVEN
The Chargers lead the all-time series with the Owls, 48-38. SCSU took two of three from UNH this year, but the Chargers claimed the last meeting, 11-6, on May 2.
DIVISION CHAMPS
For the second time in four years, SCSU claimed the NE10 Conference Southwest Division title. The Owls finished with a 14-4 mark in division play, a game better than rival New Haven.
OWLS RANKED NO. 6 IN THE REGION
The Southern Connecticut State University baseball team finished the year ranked No. 6 in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association East Region poll.
MAN ON FIRE
Nick Lamberti has been on a roll since the Owls' return from Florida on spring break. In the 26 games back up north, he's batting .406 (41-for-101).Â

Cole Bryant was named to the NE10 weekly honor roll on April 24 following his stellar performance against LIU-Post.
PAIR NAMED TO WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
For the third straight week,
Nick Lamberti was named to the NE10 weekly honor roll on April 17. In addition, senior co-captain
Cole Bryant was also named to the weekly honor roll for his performance against Le Moyne.Â
• Lamberti continued his hot streak, going 7-for-14 with two doubles, one RBI and two stolen bases.Â
• Bryant pitched his third complete game this year and earned his sixth win of the season in a 5-1 victory over Le Moyne. He allowed just five hits and one run in the win.
LAMBERTI NAMED TO WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
Nick Lamberti was named to the NE10 weekly honor roll on April 10. He batted .550 (11-for-20) during the Owls' five games. He posted multiple-hit efforts in four games and added seven runs scored, four stolen bases and two RBI. Lamberti's best game of the week was the final one, against Franklin Pierce, in which he registered four hits and four runs scored.
CARNEY NAMED NE10 ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Freshman
Nate Carney was tabbed as the NE10 Rookie of the Week on April 3 after tossing a complete-game shutout against Saint Rose. He struck out seven in the win. In addition,
Nick Lamberti was named to the league's weekly honor roll for his efforts in a 3-0 week.
ZULLO NAMED NE10 PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Greg Zullo was named the NE10 Player of the Week on March 20 for his play during the Owls' trip to Florida. He continued his torrid hitting by posting a team-high 10 RBI to boost his league leading total to 25 during a 5-1 week for the Owls. He had four multiple-hit performances and finished the week going 9-for-25 (.360) in Florida.
BRYANT ON A ROLL
Cole Bryant registered his second straight complete game shutout, going all nine innings in a 17-0 win over Molloy. He allowed just four hits and fanned five. Dating back to last year, over six appearances, he went 46 innings without allowing an earned run.

• Bryant repeated as the league's Pitcher of the Week for his scoreless effort in a 17-0 win over Molloy.Â
• Zullo was named to the weekly honor roll due to his performance across all four games in S.C. where he went .529 (9-for-17), with five runs and five RBI.
OWLS SPLIT MYRTLE BEACH TRIP
The Southern Connecticut State baseball team played four games in three days (Feb. 24-26) in South Carolina, where it was victorious over Molloy and Mercy, but fell to Wilmington and LIU Post.
CAREER DAYS FOR ZULLO

Greg Zullo totaled a career-high five RBI in the season-opening win over Bentley. He later bested that with six in a game at Franklin Pierce on April 9.

SO MUCH FOR THE NE10 PRESEASON RANKINGS
The Southern Connecticut State University baseball team was selected to finish fifth in the Southwest Division of the NE10 Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll. However, the Owls won the division title for the second time in four years.

LOOKING BACK AT LAST SEASON
The baseball team finished the 2016 season with an overall record of 16-25-1. The Owls were selected to finish fourth in the Southwest Division preseason poll. Southern Connecticut came up just short of the NE10 Championship, finishing in fifth place.Â
