Sophomore Mike DiMartino (New Haven, Conn.) led the Owls today going 2-for-4, scored two runs and hit a three-run homerun. Freshman
John Spoto (Stamford, Conn.) contributed to the Owls dominance going 3-for-4, scored one run and an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED: Owls scored 10 unanswered runs in the first five innings, scored one in the first, where sophomore
Tyler Criscuolo (Branford, Conn.) scored on an error by the second baseman, 1-0 score. In the second inning freshman
Connor Redahan (Greenwich, Conn.) doubled with Di Martino on first, he advanced to third and scored on the throw, Senior
Griffin Garabedian (Hamden, Conn.) reached on an error by the shortstop to allow Redahan to score in the second inning to give the Owls a 3-0 lead. The Owls scored three in the third senior
Kyle Hart (North Branford, Conn.) lead off with a double for the Owls next up Redahan singled up the middle to score Hart, Redahan advanced to second on a wild pitch as Spoto was up to bat he later hit a single to score Redahan. Garabedian singled advancing Spoto to third, sophomore
Nick Lamberti (East Haven, Conn.) doubled with runners on the corners to bring in Spoto to increase the Owls lead 6-0.
In the fourth inning the Owls ran up the score off a three-run homerun by DiMartino to right center field to give the Owls a 9-0 lead going into the fifth. In the bottom of the fifth, Lamberti singled to center field and advanced to second off a Criscuolo groundout. Hart came up to bat and hit an RBI single to left center field to score Lamberti and give the Owls a commanding 10-0 lead. Jim Palmer (Milford, Conn.), 11-2 score. The Golden Knights scored one more run in the top of the ninth but the rally ended short there to give the Owls the 11-3 decision.
