NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University football team dropped a 25-8 decision to Assumption College in Northeast-10 Conference action on Friday evening.

THE KEY STATS:
- The Owls outgained Assumption – 368-287 – and ran 93 plays compared to the Greyhounds' 63.
- Southern's defense forced two interceptions and also had several key stops in short yardage situations.

Raymond Catapano (Franklin Square, N.Y.) completed 15-of-37 passes for 149 yards, but was sacked seven times.

Paris Crawford (Bayonne, N.J.) led the receivers with six catches for 51 yards.

Eli Parks (Bristol, Conn.) rushed for 68 yards on 12 carries while
Jaron Cogdell (Meriden, Conn.) had 67 yards on 11 carries.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Assumption sacked Catapano for a safety just 3:16 into the game. Off the ensuing drive, Cole Tracy hit a 38-yard field goal to give Assumption a 5-0 lead, a mark which stood after the first quarter.
- The only scoring of the second quarter came courtesy of two field goals from Tracy, these coming from 49 and 37 yards out.
- Assumption extended its lead to 18-0 late in the third quarter but the Owls struck on their next drive. Cogdell notched his first collegiate touchdown with a 21-yard run just 70 seconds into the fourth quarter. Catapano hit
Ryne Griesenauer (Naugatuck, Conn.) on the ensuing two-point try to cut the deficit to 18-8.
