SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – A scoring frenzy ensued as the Southern Connecticut State University softball squad ousted American International College this afternoon 12-4.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- AIC opened the scoring in the first inning after scoring on a wild pitch. Junior
Delany Turner (Leesburg, Va.) scored on a tag-up in the second inning to tie the game at one. The Yellow Jackets came up big in the third inning where they added three runs.
- Turner had other ideas for the Owls as she singled to center field in the third inning to score sophomore
Sara Buscetto (Waterford, Conn.) and freshman
Cailey Botteon (Moodus, Conn.). Sophomore
Jordan McHale (Johnston, R.I.) took her turn at the plate and singled up the middle to score two runs. With the Owls up by one, freshman
Jayden Delaporta (Mystic, Conn.) knocked a RBI single through the left side to put the Owls up 6-4.
Caitlyn Parisi capped off the Owls third inning rally with a RBI single through the left side to take a 7-4 lead.
- McHale struck again in the fifth inning as she scored on an error to put the Owls up by four runs. Senior
Jaime Conklin (Falls Village, Conn.) singled to the shortstop and scored Botteon. Senior
BryAnna McIntosh (Cheshire, Conn.) took her turn and singled to right field that scored Buscetto to end the Owls second rally of the game giving them a commanding 6 run lead.
- Southern struck again in the sixth inning after Botteon singled to the pitcher that scored McHale. Buscetto singled in the next play to score Delaporta and take a 12-4 lead.
- Freshman
Jazmyn Martinez (Middletown, N.Y.) pitched a complete game in the circle allowing just five hits in 26 batters faced.

The Owls are set to host American International College for Senior Day to close out the 2018 regular season tomorrow. Game one of the doubleheader is set for noon with senior day festivities set to begin at 11:30 a.m.
