SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - An offensive outburst gave the Owls the victory in game one as the Southern Connecticut State University baseball team split its doubleheader against AIC, 13-2 and 2-1.

GAME ONE
KEY PERFORMERS

John Spoto (Stamford, Conn.) went 2-for-2 scored two runs and tallied four RBI.

Nolan Cloutier (Wallingford, Conn.) went 2-for-6 scored one run and recorded four RBI.

Nick Lamberti (East Haven, Conn.) batted 3-for-5 recorded two RBI and three runs.

Ethan Joyce (Exeter, N.H.) batted 3-for-5 registered two runs and one RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- AIC got on the board in first inning scoring one run. The Owls took a 2-1 lead in the top of the third as Lamberti doubled to center field bringing in
Tyler Criscuolo (Branford, Conn.) and
Jim Palmer (Milford, Conn.). The Yellow Jackets scored one run in the third tying the game at two.
- SCSU broke the deadlock in the sixth when
Anthony Zambito () reached on an error scoring
Mike Giordano (Norwalk, Conn.). In the seventh, Cloutier doubled to score Lamberti giving the Owls a two run lead.
- The Owls added five runs in the eighth and increased their lead to 9-2. Joyce singled to score Zambito for the first run of the inning. Then, Spoto doubled to left field sending Joyce home. Cloutier reached on an error scoring Spoto and Lamberti.
Griffin Garabedian (Hamden, Conn.) blasted a singled to right field and scored Cloutier to complete the Owls five run rally.
- Southern scored four more runs in the ninth. Spoto hit a three RBI triple and Cloutier singled to bring in Spoto and seal the victory for the Owls.
GAME TWO
KEY PERFORMERS

Connor Redahan (Greenwich, Conn.) recorded one RBI.

Griffin Bremer (Higganum, Conn.) pitched 8.0 scoreless innings while recording five strikeouts.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- It was a defensive effort in game two as Lamberti scored the only run of the game off of a Redahan grounder in the fourth.
- AIC hit a walk off homerun in the ninth to take te 2-1 win.

The Owls will face AIC on Sunday for a singled game, with the game set to start at 1 p.m.
