GARDEN CITY, N.Y. - Despite four hits from
John Spoto (Stamford, Conn.) and three from
Nick Lamberti (East Haven, Conn.), the Southern Connecticut State University baseball team dropped a 9-8 decision to Adelphi today.

KEY PERFORMERS
- Lamberti recorded three hits and three RBI.
- Spoto went 4-for-5, tallied one RBI and scored one run.
- Ethan Joyce (Exeter, N.H.) went 1-for-4, scored two runs and registered one RBI for the Owls.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Owls offense came out swinging and scored three runs in the first and second inning to take a 6-1 lead. Joyce's first inning single brought in Anthony Zambito (Ridgewood, N.J.) for a 1-0 lead. Then, Lamberti hit a single up the middle, scoring Tyler Criscuolo (Branford, Conn.) to double the Owls advantage. Spoto then hit a single through the left side to bring in Joyce and make it 3-0. In the second inning, Zambito's single allowed Griffin Garabedian (Hamden, Conn.) to score, giving the Owls a 4-1 lead. Later, with two runners on, Lamberti blasted a triple to bring in Joyce and Zambito increasing the Owls lead to 6-1.
- The Panthers scored five in the bottom of the third to tie the game at 6-6. Adelphi took the lead in the fourth scoring two runs for an 8-6 edge. They added one more run in the sixth to increase their lead to three.
- The Owls answered in the seventh by scoring two runs. Mike Giordano (Norwalk, Conn.) singled to bring in Nolan Cloutier (Wallingford, Conn.) to get within 9-7. Jim Palmer (Milford, Conn.) later bunted to score Spoto and bring the Owls within one of the Panthers.Â

The Owls head to Manchester, N.H. for a doubleheader against St. Anselm on Saturday, April 7, with the first game set to begin at 1 p.m.
