THE OWLS' LAST TIME OUT
  • Southern dropped a 23-20 decision to Elm City rival New Haven on Homecoming weekend. The Owls trailed 14-7 at halftime and 23-7 after the third, but mounted a fourth-quarter comeback that fell short.
  • Jonmichael Bivona (Stamford, Conn.) totaled 77 yards on 17 carries with two touchdowns while freshman quarterback Jackson Ostrowsky (Mt. Pleasant, Mich.) was 19-for-33 for 209 yards with one rushing touchdown.
  • Brandon Swain-Price (Stoughton, Mass.) led all Owls receivers with five catches for 80 yards.
  • Defensively, the Owls were led by Rich Souffrant's seven tackles, which included ½ sack. He also tallied a pass break-up and one quarterback hurry.
  • Anton Juncaj had six tackles, including one for a loss, while Mekhi Barnett and Matthew Weiss both had five tackles apiece. Weiss had a ½ sack and two quarterback hurries while Barnett also had an interception.

ALL-TIME AGAINST SAINT ANSELM
  • The Owls and Hawks have met 19 times since their first meeting in 2000, with Southern owning a 16-3 record in the all-time series.
  • Two of Saint Anselm's three wins against Southern came in the first three games of the all-time series, while Southern is 15-1 in the last 16 games.
  • Southern has won the last four games against St. A's, with the Owls last loss to Saint Anselm's was in overtime, 23-20, in 2014.
  • Last season saw Southern post a 43-7 win at home, which were the second-most points scored by the Owls in a game last season.

NOTES
  • With his 209 passing yards against New Haven last week, Jackson Ostrowsky eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark and currently sits at 1,163 through the first four games of his career.
  • The last SCSU freshman quarterback to pass for 1,000 yards in a season was Robert Nittolo in 2015.
  • Jonmichael Bivona's two-touchdown day against the Chargers gives him a team-leading five for the season.
  • The Owls game against New Haven was the fourth-straight game in which the Owls had a player score multiple touchdowns as Bivona followed Brandon Swain-Price against Bentley, Julian Chung against Franklin Pierce and Swain-Price against AIC.
  • After opening the season 6-for-15 in the Red Zone in their first four games, the Owls have now converted on 15 of their last 16 possessions inside their opponents' 20-yard line.
  • Mekhi Barnett leads the Owls with 36 tackles for the season, with 16 coming in his last three games.
  • Barnett's interception against UNH was also his first of the year and the fifth of the season for the Owls.
  • Matthew Weiss leads Southern with 4 ½ sacks, all coming in his last three games. Weiss also leads Southern with six QB hurries.
  • Vance Upham's fumble recovery against New Haven puts him in the lead on the Owls' defense in take-aways after also recording two interceptions this season.
