Southern Connecticut State University baseball has announced schedule changes to this weekend's Northeast 10 Conference series against American International. Originally slated to play a three-game set on Apr. 19-20, with a single game on Friday, Apr. 19, the Owls and Yellow Jackets will instead meet at 10 a.m. on Friday, Apr. 19 to play a doubleheader. The third game of the series will be moved to Tuesday, Apr. 23 at 3:30 p.m., which was originally scheduled to be a matchup against NE10 Northeast Division foe Southern New Hampshire.

With the threat of inclement weather, Owls fans should refer to the Official Website of Southern Connecticut Athletics, SouthernCTOwls.com, or the Official Twitter account of Southern Athletics, @SCSU_Owls, for up-to-the-minute schedule changes, as well as the latest news, scores and highlights.

PLAYOFF PICTURE | NE10 STANDINGS
  • It's still a little blurry, but it looks brighter for the Owls after Southern's win against New Haven on Tuesday, Apr. 16. Southern sits in fourth place in the Southwest Division at 4-5 and trail third-place Pace at 5-5. The Yellow Jackets are in second place in the division at 5-2, while Adelphi is in first place at 5-1.
  • Southern is tied in the division standings with Saint Rose, whom they split with on Mar. 30. The third game of the series is scheduled for Monday, Apr. 22 in New Haven.
  • With single games against Saint Rose, Adelphi on Wednesday, Mar. 24 and New Haven on Tuesday, Apr. 30, as well as a three-game series against Pace on Apr. 27-28, plenty of movement is expected over the final two weeks of the regular season.

ALL-TIME AGAINST AIC
  • Southern owns a 60-35 record against the Yellow Jackets in the all-time series.
  • Last season, Southern and AIC split their four games, with one standing as a non-conference matchup, giving AIC a 2-1 in-division edge last season.
  • The Owls are 8-3 against AIC over the last three seasons, with 2018 standing as the only series' win for the Yellow Jackets since 2006.

SCOUTING THE YELLOW JACKETS
  • Josh Aviles leads AIC in average (.339), hits (41), runs scored (22) and stolen bases (18).
  • Reed Philips leads the Yellow Jackets with 21 RBI with two home runs and a team-high eight doubles.
  • Andrew Ciacciarelli checks-in with two home runs, 19 RBI and 11 runs scored.
  • Matt Elliot is hitting .240 with a home run, 16 RBI and 18 runs scored while Matt Costanzo has also scored 18 runs for the year.
  • On the mound, Joe Kemlage is 4-2 with a 3.40 ERA with team-leading 49 strikeouts and 20 walks in a team-high 47 2/3 innings pitched.
  • Joe Pepe is 3-3 with a 3.26 ERA with 37 strikeouts and 11 walks in 38 2/3 while Nick Kennedy has posted a 2-3 record with a 3.30 ERA across 30 innings pitched.

  • James Flahive leads the team with three saves, as well as 11 appearances in which he has logged a 5.17 ERA in 15 2/3 innings pitched.

THE OWLS' LAST TIME OUT
  • The Owls are coming off arguably their top all-around performance of the season in the form of a 17-0 win against New Haven.
  • The win was the Owls' fifth shutout against New Haven, all-time, and was also the largest margin of victory against the Chargers in their series history. It also stood as the second-largest margin of victory in a shutout in program history.
  • Owls closer Quantique White was handed the ball for the spot start, with the expectation of eating a few innings. What the Owls received was a complete game, two-hit shutout for White's first win as a starter in two seasons.
  • Nick Lamberti led the offense with a four-hit, eight-RBI day that saw the senior outfield triple twice, and become the first player since Ryan Geffert in 2010 to drive in eight runs in a game.
  • Tyler Criscuolo was 3-for-6 with three RBI in the game while Jim Palmer (Milford, Conn.) was 3-for-4 with three runs scored.
  • Cam O'Toole (Grafton, Mass.) was 2-for-4 with two RBI and three runs scored while Nolan Cloutier (Wallingford, Conn.) and John Spoto (Stamford, Conn.) also scored three runs each.

SCOUTING THE OWLS

  • He's now hit safely in seven-straight games in which he is hitting .452 (14-31) with four RBI and eight runs scored.
  • Palmer also leads the team with 47 hits for the year and is hitting at a .331 clip with 11 RBI, 14 stolen bases and a team-leading 28 runs scored.
  • Criscuolo pushed his hitting streak to 15 games, while he has also reached base safely in 19-straight games.
  • For the year, Criscuolo is hitting .423 (33-78) in 19 games played with three home runs, 27 RBI and 19 runs scored.

  • For the year, O'Toole is hitting .333 (32-96) with 15 RBI and 25 runs scored.
  • DeMartino's double was his team-leading 15th of the season. Demartino is currently hitting .298 (39-131) with 22 RBI and 18 runs scored.
  • White ran his scoreless innings streak to 12 innings against NE10 opponents, while allowing just two hits.
  • Brandon White leads the Owls' pitching staff at 4-0 with a 3.64 ERA with 25 strikeouts in 42 innings pitched.
  • Joe Nemchek checks-in at 3-0 with a 5.54 ERA in 26 innings of work, and is 2-0 with two earned runs allowed in his last 12 innings pitched in back-to-back starts against NE10 opponents.
