The Southern Connecticut State University football team will travel to Springfield, Mass. on Saturday, Sept. 27 to take on American International College in a Northeast 10 Conference matchup at Ronald J. Adbow Field at 12 p.m. The Owls enter the game at 0-3 on the season while American International is 1-2. Both teams lost their NE10 openers, with the Owls falling to Assumption, 19-7, while AIC lost to New Haven, 37-7.

ALL-TIME AGAINST AIC
• Southern Connecticut and AIC have met 63 times, with the Owls winning 34 of them and three ending in ties.
• Southern is coming off a 48-21 win at Jess Dow Field in their last meeting, which fell on the Owls Homecoming last season. 

THE OWLS' LAST TIME OUT
  • In its 2019 NE10 opener, the Owls took a 19-7 loss at home to Assumption on Friday, Sept. 20.
  • Jonmichael Bivona (Stamford, Conn.) ran for a team-leading 89 yards, including a season-best 45-yard run.
  • Senior quarterback Matt Sanzaro (Wethersfield, Conn.) passed for 124 yards and scrambled for 22 more while also throwing one touchdown. Sanzaro hooked up with Izaiah Sanders (Stamford, Conn.) in the second half for his first touchdown of the season. Sanders had four catches for 46 yards. 
  • Defensively, Kyle Armour (Newington, Conn.) registered a team-best nine tackles, including six solo bids. 
  • Harrison Smith (Rochester, Mass.) and Hasan Dominick (Jersey City, N.J.) both tallied five tackles apiece while JayChar Howell (Yonkers, N.Y.) had three tackles, a pass break-up and a fumble recovery. 

NOTES
  • Bivona currently leads the Owls with 218 yards through the Owls first three games for a 72.7 yards-per-game average. With 49 carries to date, the Owls are averaging 4.4 yards per carry.
  • Sanzara has totaled 460 yards in the are and 102 yards on the ground and leads the Owls in passing touchdowns (2) and rushing touchdowns (2).
  • Izaiah Sanders has totaled 142 receiving yards through his first three games. With a team-high 11 receptions, he has averaged 12.9 yards per reception while he and Jaylynn Cundiff have one receiving touchdown each.
  • Through three games, JayChar Howell has totaled a team-leading 19 tackles for a team-best 6.3 tackles per game. Howell has a team-best 14 tackles two pass break-ups and a fumble recovery. 
  • Kyle Armour sits behind Howell with 18 tackles while Mehki Barnett has 16 tackles, including a sack, and two pass breakups. 
  • Rich Souffrant leads the team with 2.5 sacks to date.
