The Last Time They Met
Senior tailback Eli Parks (Bristol, Conn.) registered his fourth touchdown of the game with 55 seconds remaining to give the Southern Connecticut State University football team the lead for good in a 35-32 triumph at Gannon this evening.

Parks' seven-yard run gave the Owls a 26-25 lead and was followed by a successful two-point run from Vochan Fowler(Bridgeport, Conn.). Gannon got the ball back with a chance to tie or take the lead, but David Campbell (Bloomfield, Conn.) stepped in front for an interception and 40-yard pick six to put the game out of reach.

  • The Owls were picked fourth in the 2019 Northeast 10 Conference Preseason Coaches Poll, as announced by the NE10 on Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2019. 
  • The Owls return 2018 All-NE10 picks Matthew Weiss and Kyle Armour, as well as All-Rookie selections Julian Chung and Travis Shashok.
  • Matt Sanzaro will return under center for the Owls. Southern's quarterback completed 65-of-124 attempts in six games last season for 833 yards and four touchdowns, while adding 228 yards on the ground with four rushing touchdowns. 
  • Jordan Knight posted 25 carries as Parks' back-up, piling together 74 yards with one touchdown.
  • Chung led all Southern receivers with 34 catches and 470 receiving yards while Izaiah Sanders accumuated 221 yards on 15 catches for the year. 
  • On defense, Armour, Jay-Char Howell, Kwadir Delgado-McIntyre and Miles Thomas return to the Owls secondary.
  • Armour was second on the Owls' roster with 59 tackles, while Howell record 44.
  • Delgado-McIntyre had a team-leading three interceptions, while Thomas recorded a pair while breaking up a team-leading eight passes.
  • Weiss will be reunited on the defensive line by Sidney Jones who posted 38 tackles a year ago, while Weiss totaled 25 including 2 ½ sacks.
