The Southern Connecticut State University women's lacrosse team will open the 2020 season with a three-game home stand, first by hosting Dominican College at Jess Dow Field at Sunday, Feb. 23, 2020.

All-Time Against Dominican: 0-1
The Last Time They Met: Southern's only matchup with Dominican came on April 24, 2014 in Orangeburg, N.Y., with the Chargers coming away with a 10-7 victory. Sarah Muise (Killingworth, Conn.) recorded three goals, and Sarah Cebry (Burlington, Conn.) chipped in with two goals. Vanessa Pagano (Wilton, Conn.) had 19 saves. 
 
2019 Recap
  • The Owls allowed fewer goals in 2019 as compared to 2018 under first-year head coach Kevin Siedlecki.
  • Karlie Rowe (Niantic, Conn.) was named to the Northeast 10 All-Rookie Team as she scored 35 goals, the most goals scored by a Southern freshman since Emma Farrel (Cheshire, Conn.) scored 41 during the 2015 season.
  • Rowe also set a program record for goals in a game by a freshman with seven on March 30, 2019 against Franklin Pierce.
  • Samantha Cozzolino (Hamden, Conn.) was 13th in the NE10 in goals and points with 52 and 71. 
 
2020 Preview
  • Including Rowe, Southern returns 10 starters from last season's team. Joining Rowe is Steph Seymour (North Branford, Conn.), who scored 21 goals last season, Hailey Gordon (Niantic, Conn.), who scored 18 goals, Morgan Chase (Windsor, Conn.), who scored 11 goals, and Kelly Jagodzinski (Stamford, Conn.), who scored 10 goals. 
  • Rowe, Seymour, Chase, and Jagodzinski were five of the Owls top six goal scorers during the 2019-20 season.
  • Seymour and Chase were also tied for third on the team in assists, with seven each.
  • Emily Rossini (West Hartford, Conn.), Kendall Simmons (Branford, Conn.), and Sara Meza (Norwalk, Conn.) return on the defensive side and Amanda Murray (Bow, N.H.) returns as a midfielder. Laura Morton (Somers, Conn.) returns in goal after stopping 166 shots last season, fourth best in the conference.
  • Bayleigh Takacs (Sparta, N.J.) also returns for the Owls. She recorded nine assists and four goals during her freshman season last year.
  • Southern welcomes freshmen Jessica Amarante (Branford, Conn.), Tathiana Cortes (Bridgeport, Conn. ) Maddy Leclair (Glastonbury, Conn. ), Tess McIntosh (Fairfield, Conn. ), Renae Musco (Wallingford, Conn.), Julia Shapiro (Easton, Conn. ), Kaylee Swansen (Waterford, Conn.), and Caroline White (Madison, Conn.) to the team this year.
  • Also new to the team is sophomore Mia Pulisciano (Cheshire, Conn.), a transfer from Endicott, and senior Hannah LeBeau (East Lyme, Conn.).
  • Southern was picked to finish 11th in the NE10 Women's Lacrosse Coaches' Poll, receiving 46 points.
