Seven Members Of The Men's Indoor Track And Field Team Earn All-American Honors


NEW ORLEANS, La. – Nigel Green (Shirley, N.Y.)Oghenefejiro Onakpoma (Naugatuck, Conn.), Ruvens Exantus (Stratford, Conn.), Milan Spisek (Easton, Conn.), Trinity Collins (Middletown, Conn.), Elijah Henry (Stratford, Conn.), and Justin Kelly (Hartford, Conn.) all received NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field All-American Honors, as announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Tuesday, May 26, 2020.

Due to the cancellation of the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships, the Executive Committee adopted the following criteria:
  • Based on the posted startlist for the national championships announced by the NCAA, the following will be recognized as All-America for the 2020 indoor track & field season:
    • Individual events: ALL student-athletes listed on the startlist for the anticipated event.
    • Relay events: The four student-athletes per anticipated relay who produced the performance that was declared and accepted into their event. 

Green was named an All-American in two events; the 200-meter dash and 4x400-meter relay. Green put up record setting performances throughout the indoor season, setting Southern records in the 200-meter dash at 21.32 seconds and 300-meter dash at 33.75 seconds.  

Onakpoma was named an All-American for the second consecutive season in the triple jump. Onakpoma was scheduled to compete in his third consecutive Indoor Track and Field Championship. He earned All-American status during the 2019 Indoor Championships after finishing in sixth place with a leap of 15.42 meters. Onakpoma won the NE10 Conference Indoor Triple Jump Championship with a leap of 15.23 meters.

Exantus earned All-American status in the 60-meter hurdles. He qualified with a with a seed time of 8.03 at the Boston University Last Chance Qualifier. He also was the NE10 Conference Champion in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.09.

Spisek earned All-American Status in the pole vault. Spisek was an NE10 Conference Champion in the pole vault, setting a conference championship record with a mark of 5.06 meters.

Collins, Henry, and Kelly joined Green in being named All-Americans in the 4x400-meter relay team. The relay team qualified at the Boston University Last Chance Qualifier with a time of 3:11.39. It was the fastest time by a Southern 4x400 indoor relay team since the 2011-12 season.
