Southern Connecticut football travels to Waltham, Mass. On Saturday, Oct. 22 to take on Bentley in a Northeast 10 Conference matchup set for a 2 p.m. start at Bentley Football Field. The Owls enter the weekend after defeating Franklin Pierce, 37-20, last weekend and host a record of 1-6 overall and 1-3 in the NE10 while Bentley is currently second in the conference at 3-1 while also holding a 5-2 overall mark.

The Owls' Last Time Out
  • Southern rolled to a 37-20 win against Franklin Pierce in a Homecoming showdown at Jess Dow Field last Saturday.
  • Tylon Papallo (Meriden, Conn.) had a pair of highlight-reel plays with an 82-yard punt return for a touchdown before also scoring on a 49-yard reception.
  • Papallo earned Northeast 10 Special Teams Player of the Week Honors.
  • Owls quarterback Marc Reali (Biddeford, Me.) was 6-for-11 for 141 yards and a 49-yard touchdown pass and totaled 60 yards on the ground with a 17-yard touchdown run.
  • The Owls ran the ball 42 times against the Ravens, with Jordan Davis (Wallingford, Conn.) rushing for a team-high 65 yards on 10 carries with one touchdown and a 43-yard carry. 
  • Ryan Soules (Mt. Vernon, N.Y.) led Southern with three catches for 37 yards. 
  • Szymon Gawlick (Newton, Mass.) was 3-for-3 on field goal attempts, and also converted on all four extra-point attempts.
  • Defensively, Robert Nunez (Valley Stream, N.Y.) had a game-high 10 tackles including a pair of quarterback hurries. 
  • Hasan Dominick (Jersey City, N.J.) had eight tackles and a sack while also breaking up a pass. 
  • Harrison Smith (Rochester, Mass.) also had a sack and two hurries while Joe DiGello (Orange, Conn.) finished with two sacks for the day, and also forced a fumble. 
  • Richard Williams, Jr. (Wethersfield, Conn.) had an interception for the Owls. 
Papallo Named NE10 Special Teams Player of the Week
  • Papallo scored twice in the Owls' 37-20 win against Frankin Pierce, despite only touching the ball four times. Papallo received a punt from Franklin Pierce on the Owls' 18-yard line and returned it 82 yards for the Owls' second touchdown of the day. Several plays later, Papallo beat the Ravens' secondary and was wide open on the flea flicker that resulted in a 49-yard touchdown reception. 
  • Papallo's punt return was the longest of the season in the NE10 as well as the only one returned for a touchdown in the conference.
  • Papallo's 82-yard return for a touchdown was the second-longest in program history after Jim Lukowiak had an 91-yard return in 2005.  
Owls Notes
  • For the year, Papallo has been a bright spot for the Owls as he leads the NE10 in receiving yards (490), yards per game (70.0) and yards per catch (17.5).
  • He is also one of five receivers in the conference with four touchdowns to date while he is tied for third in the category.
  • He also leads the NE10 in punt return yards (162) and return average (20.3). 
  • Papallo ranks third in the conference with 642 all-purpose yards as well as 91.7 yards per game.
  • Diante Wilson currently ranks fourth in the NE10 in carries (100), seventh in yards (348) and yards per game (49.7) with two touchdowns.
  • Jordan Davis leads the Owls with three rushing touchdowns while totaling 173 yards on 24 carries for a 7.2 yard-per-carry average.
  • Davis' 71-yard touchdown run against Pace stands as the second-longest run of the season in the NE10.
  • Symon Gawlick is 4-for-6 on field goals this season, and 13-of-14 on point-after attempts. He ranks fifth in the conference with 25 points.
  • Owls punter Andreas Picarelli leads the NE10 in total yards (1,568) and is tied for second with 10 punts inside the 20 with a league-leading 14 fair catches.
  • Shawn Martin is second in the league with 509 yards on kick returns.
  • Robert Nunez ranks second in the NE10 in total tackles with 59 as well as 8.4 tackles per game. His 25 solo tackles rank seventh in the conference.
  • Joe Digello has totaled 41 tackles to date, while also totaling 25 solo takedowns, and ranks sixth in the conference with four sacks.
  • He's also forced two fumbles and has a 52-yard interception return for a touchdown.
  • Hasan Dominick is sixth in the NE10 with 47 tackles while also totaling 1.5 sacks and three tackles for loss.
  • Matt Ansell, Ben Eichman and Ja'Kai Young have all recorded two interceptions, each, to lead the Owls this season.
  • Eichman also has four pass breakups on the year while Quinton Haughton leads the team with five. 
Scouting the Falcons
  • Bentley will host Southern Connecticut for Homecoming on Saturday with a record of 5-2 overall and 3-1 in the conference, with their lone loss coming to New Haven.
  • The Falcons rank second, behind New Haven, in the NE10. As a team, Bentley is averaging 356.4 yards per game, with a near-even split of 176.7 in the air and 179.7 on the ground and are averaging 29.7 points per game.
  • Mark Waid has thrown for 1,145 yards and 13 touchdowns and is one of two players in the NE10 with 500 rushing yards.
  • Running back Nate Larkins is second in the conference with seven touchdowns while Isaiah Decias has 14 catches for 259 yards.
  • Salvatore Lupoli leads the NE10 in tackles at 9.4 per game while Cedric Dashiell II leads the conference with 6.5 sacks.
  • Jailen Branch leads the Falcons with four interceptions.
