SCSU Football Drops NE10 Opener To Pace

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Southern Connecticut State University football lost to Pace, 27-7, in a Northeast 10 Conference matchup at Jess Dow Field. With the loss, Southern drops to 0-3 on the year and moves to 0-1 in conference play while Pace improves to 2-1 overall including a 1-0 NE10 mark.

Owls running back Jordan Davis (Wallingford, Conn.) had the play of the game when he broke free for a 71-yard touchdown run late in the fourth quarter. The play capped a three-play, 80-yard drive and saw the Owls halt Pace's 27-unanswered points. Davis finished the night with five carries for 82 yards and his first career touchdown. Tylon Papallo (Meriden, Conn.) led the Owls with four catches for 56 yards.

Defensively, Ben Eichman (Merrimack, N.H.) had a career game with a team-leading 12 tackles, while also forcing two fumbles and registering a tackle for a loss. Hasan Dominick (Jersey City, N.J.) finished with eight tackles and a sack while Robet Nunez (Valley Stream, N.Y.) had seven tackles and also broke up a pass. Special teams standout Shawn Martin (Scotch Plains, N.J.) returned five kicks for 112 yards, including a game-best 31 yard return.

Southern will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 24 when it travels to Manchester, N.H. to take on Saint Anselm in a Northeast 10 Conference game set for a 1 p.m. kick-off.
