Southern Connecticut football resumes Northeast 10 Conference play when it travels to Manchester, N.H. to take on Saint Anselm on Saturday, Sept. 24 at 1 p.m. at Grippone Stadium. The Owls enter the game in search of their first win of the 2022 season and will face the NE10's first-place Hawks who stand at 3-0 overall and 1-0 in league play.

ALL-TIME AGAINST SAINT ANSELM
  • Saturday's matchup against the Hawks will be the 23rd meeting between the two teams with the Owls holding an 18-4 advantage in the all-time series.
  • Southern has won five-of-the-last six games against Saint Anselm and also host an 8-3 record in Manchester against the Hawks.
  • Last year's matchup was a win for the Owls, 34-31, highlighted by a 17-for-26, 203-yard performance by Jackson Ostrowsky, which included three touchdown passes.
  • Izaiah Sanders totaled eight catches for 85 yards and two touchdowns while Tylon Papallo and Tyler Hodge also scored.
  • Elijah Alexandre led the Owls' defense with eight tackles and a pass break-up while Hasan Dominick and Aaron Kelly both had interceptions.
  • Szymon Gawlick also converted on both of his field goal attempts in the game. 
SCOUTING THE OWLS
  • Southern is coming off a 27-7 loss to Pace on Friday, Sept. 16.
  • Owls' sophomore Jordan Davis had the highlight of the game with a 71-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter. Davis' run was the longest touchdown run of the season in the NE10, and the longest at Southern Connecticut since 2017.
  • Ben Eichman finished with 12 tackles, including nine solo tackles, while also forcing two fumbles.
  • Hasan Dominick had eight tackles and one sack.
  • Eight different players have recorded a rush for the Owls this season, led by Diante Wilson's 38 carries for 125 with two touchdowns, both of which came against New Haven.
  • Joe Bernard and Marc Reali have split time in the Owls' backfield, with Bernard totaled 26 completings for 276 yards for the year while Reali has two touchdown passes for the season. Freshman Thomas Goldsborough made his collegiate debut against Pace last week.
  • Tylon Papallo leads the Owls with 14 catches for 205 yards and one touchdown reception for the year.
  • Papallo ranks third in the NE10 in receptions, yards and yards per game (68.3), and ranks sixth in yards per reception (14.6).
  • Eight different receivers have caught multiple passes through the Owls' first three games, including Jevon Jones with four catches for 70 yards, Tim O'Shea with six catches for 66 yards and Wilson with six catches for 66 yards and a touchdown.
  • On defense, Robert Nunez leads the Owls with 28 tackles while Dominick is close-behind with 23, including one sack.
  • Joe DiGello, the NE10 Week 2 Defensive Player of the Week, had 18 tackles and a touchdown off an interception.
  • Shawn Martin leads the team with 14 kick returns for 285 yards. 
SCOUTING THE HAWKS
  • Saint Anselm is undefeated through its first three games for the first time in 18 years and sit in first place in the NE10 standings.
  • Saint A's is coming off a 27-0 win against Franklin Pierce last week, which followed a 56-7 win against AIC and a 28-10 win against Millersville.
  • Hawks' quarterback Drew Willoughby is 80-for-114 for 830 yards and 12 touchdowns, against one interception, in three games, all of which leads the NE10.
  • Anthony Brown leads Saint Anselm, and the NE10, with five touchdown catches to date, while Vincent Wagner leads the team with 15 receptions.
  • In total, seven different receivers have caught a touchdown in three games.
  • Wagner also leads the team in rushing with 20 carries for 106 yards and a touchdown.
