SCSU Field Hockey Falls To Pace, 5-1

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Southern Connecticut field hockey lost to Pace, 5-1, in a Northeast-10 Conference matchup at Jess Dow Field. With the loss, Southern dropped to 5-11 overall and 4-8 in the NE10 while Pace improved to 12-5 overall and 9-3 in conference play. 



Meaghan Tillona scored the Owls only goal, with Natalia Fiato picking up an assist on the play. With the Owls trailing 3-0, Fiato took control of the ball on the sideline and centered a pass on the outlet to Tillona who one-touched it past a defender and then beat the goal to cut Pace's lead to 3-1. The goal was Tillona's ninth of the season while Fiato picked up her third assist in the season.

Freshman goalkeeper Rachel Miller was outstanding in goal against the Setters, who won their seventh-straight game, as she held the defending national champs to five goals on 25 shots-on-goal. Miller's 19 saves were a season-best for the first-year Owl while Kayla Siemer also recorded a defensive save. 

Southern Connecticut is back in action for its regular-season finale at Mercy on Friday, Oct. 27 at 3:30 p.m.
