JOPLIN, Mo. - Southern Connecticut men's cross country team placed 32nd out of 34 teams at the 2023 NCAA Division II National Championships in Joplin, Mo. at the Tom Rutledge Cross Country Course on Saturday, Nov. 18, 2023.
The Owls finished with 848 total points.
Jonathan Volpe was the first Owl to cross the finish line in 76th place with a personal-best time of 30:53.1.
Owen Gagne finished in 180th place with a time of 31:59.9, as
William Lamburn recorded a time of 32:26.0 in 215th place.
Sophonias Dires crossed the finish line in 230th place with a time of 32:50.6,
Jeremy Rivera finished in 245th place with a time of 33:28.3.
Luca Cazzaniga finished with a time of 34:21.7 in 255th place.
Sean Barkasy crossed the finish line in 259th place with a time of 35:28.2.
Southern Connecticut was the second team to cross the finish line from the East Region teams who were competing in the NCAA National Championships, finishing ahead of Northeast-10 rival, Franklin Pierce.
With this race, Southern Connecticut men's cross country concluded their 2023 season. They finish the season with a NE10 Championship title and an NCAA DII East Regional Championship title, both were back-to-back titles for the Owls.
