NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Southern Connecticut gymnastics finished second, out of three teams, at the 17
th Annual Tonry Invitational. The Owls posted a score of 192.275, for their third straight 190+ score of the season, which trailed Yale (194.075) but edged Bridgeport (191.325). The Owls also posted a season-best 48.775 on the Beam.
Southern received several outstanding performances across the board.
Abby Royer posted two scores of 9.7-or-higher.
Lexi Bracher finished first in the Vault event and
Ciana Rios finished second on the Floor while Royer finished fourth on the Beam and sixth on the Floor.
Angel Lee's 9.875 on the Beam stood as Southern's top score of the event as she won the event for the second-straight week.
Hanna Zebdi also posted matching 9.675's on the Vault and Floor.
Vault
Lexi Bracher won't the Vault event with a 9.750 while
Brianna Dorr tied for second with a 9.725.
Hanna Zebdi finished seventh with a 9.675.
Bars
Hanna Stahlbrodt finished third on the Bars with a 9.725 while
Jayci Jordan's season-best 9.60 was good for eighth place.
Beam
Southern turned in a dominating performance on the Beam as
Angel Lee won the event with a 9.875. Her top challenger was Owls' freshman
Maria Damiano who posted a 9.825. Royer was fourth with a 9.775.
Emelia Diaz and
Emiley Kahl also contributed to the Owls' season-best score as Diaz scored a 9.7 while Kahl posted a 9.6.
Floor
Rios continued her breakout season with a second-place finish on the Floor after tallying a 9.775. Royer finished sixth with a 9.7 while Zebdi was tied for seventh with a 9.675.
Erica Beyer tallied a 9.6 while
Ava Boyd also hit with a 9.575.
